Mini Sessions - Top Tips
Ahead of our mini session, here are some tips I can give to make the experience look and feel more relaxed…
1 - Coordination
If you are hoping to have the most aesthetically pleasing photos I would suggest trying to coordinate looks. Complimenting colours and tones look great within a couple or a group. I would avoid any bold colour or patterns, or anything branded.
2 - Expectations
We are all guilty of using social platforms for inspiration, but don’t get too caught up in it. Let children be children, and that looks however it looks! I’m sure you’ll love looking back at photos of them playing together, rather than standing smiling at the camera in every photo!
3 - Snacks!
We all love snacks, but they can be especially useful in tricky moments where children are acting up or if a quick break is required. And the same can be said for dogs! Treats can be great for getting them to sit pretty for a photo.
4 - Pre-shoot brief
If the children are of an age where they can listen and understand, I would suggest making them aware on the day before the shoot that there will be someone with them taking their photos. They might still be shy, but they at least know what’s happening.
5 - Arrange the shoot for a good time
I find that children are best after their naps. It’s really difficult to get a child to listen to you when they are tired and grouchy. Let me know if there is a best time of the day for your little one!
