An Intimate Wedding at Sunderland City Hall – A Beautiful North East Celebration.
This was my first time photographing a Wedding in Sunderland, and in all honesty I wasn’t sure what to expect. But I was very pleasantly surprised!
When Karlene and Dan first reached out, I knew right away I wanted to document their day. They’d waited to tie the knot in the hope that Karlene’s father—who had sadly fallen ill—would recover and be able to attend. Although that wasn’t to be, they planned an intimate wedding in the heart of Sunderland to honour him and create joyful new memories surrounded by the people they love.
After the ceremony, we stepped outside into the sunshine for confetti and portraits. We were blessed with one of those perfect July days—blue skies & sunshine. As a North East wedding photographer, it was a treat to work with the reflections in the nearby glass buildings and the striking architecture surrounding City Hall. Urban backdrops like these bring a modern, vibrant energy to wedding portraits, and Karlene and Dan completely embraced it.
The celebrations continued at a cosy local bar, where guests enjoyed afternoon tea, heartfelt speeches, and a bit of dancing to round off the day. It was relaxed, joyful, and deeply personal—everything a wedding should be.
Whether you're based in Newcastle, Sunderland, or elsewhere in the North East, I’d love to capture your day with the same care and creativity. These are the moments that matter, and being trusted to document them is always something I’m grateful for.
