A Whitby Micro Wedding
I’m not sure I really came across the term Micro Wedding until Covid was thrown at us. I think myself and many others thought it was a given that a Wedding was of a certain size and stature. Yes I had photographed smaller Weddings before, but never to a Micro size. This Wedding in Whitby was my first experience of a Micro Wedding, and I absolutely loved it. If you’re planning a Micro Wedding and aren’t sure how it will look, I hope this post will give you an idea and some confidence to maybe choose to go ahead with a Micro Wedding.
Emily & Gareth decided to stick to their original date of October 16th, whatever the restrictions were going to be. They had originally planned for a ceremony on one day and a reception on the next day, but because of Covid they pushed their reception to 2021. Emily told me that only herself, partner Gareth, both sets of parents and me were going to be in the ceremony. I think that’s when I realised quite how important my role is at a Wedding. These photographs are not only there to look back on, but to help other guests that should have been there see the ceremony.
The ceremony itself was of course a little different, with extra precautions made to make the ceremony Covid safe. Distanced guests, face masks & minimal contact is probably how things will look for a little while. Things have changed, but I can assure you the love, the commitment, and the support in that room was just the same. If anything, it being small made it extra special. And I am so honoured that I got to photograph it.
Emily shopped for her dress online and found a gorgeous backless one with embellishment all over. The way it moved was so pretty! Her silver head piece was adorned with acorn details, from Peacock and Pearl. Gareth wore a lovely silver grey suit and he made sure to match his tie to the bridesmaid’s colour. All together the pair of them looked amazing!
Emily & Gareth did have a small Wedding party waiting for them outside to greet them as husband and wife. We did what we could as a group and got some socially distanced photographs, and then I took Emily & Gareth for some photos in the Whitby scenery. I had never been to Whitby before, but oh my gosh it is such a pretty place! I will definitely be returning some time!
It had been almost a year since I photographed a Wedding, a whole year! It felt surreal to be back but I loved every second. Love is not cancelled guys, as you can see in these images, and I would highly recommend couples think about having a Micro Wedding if it is a choice for them.
I‘ve since decided to offer Micro Wedding coverage to my package list. You can head to my packages page to read more about that. I would love to hear from you & your Wedding plans <3
Please note, at the time of this Wedding all Government guidance regarding Coronavirus was followed in order to keep myself and the Wedding party safe.
