Mini Session
Tips
Mini Sessions are designed to capture a moment in your life, so it’s no wonder you want the photos to look perfect. But life is far from perfect Pinterest boards, so here are some tips to make things look more aesthetic and run more smoothly.
1 - What to wear
If you’ve found yourself wondering ‘what should I wear?’ for your shoot, then let me tell you what works best from my experience doing this.
It always looks more cohesive when a couple or a group of people dress in coordinating colours. It doesn’t need to be perfect, but maybe you’re all leaning toward beige and brown tones, or denim with white, or pinks with greens. I would also suggest avoiding bright primary colours, bold patterns or anything overly branded.
2 - Expectations
I think a lot of people who spend time on social platforms such as Pinterest and Tiktok find themselves with an unreachable expectation of how their shoot ‘should’ be. Real life is messier than that. Maybe the dog won’t behave itself, or the little one wants to run off exploring, or you can’t keep a straight face. It’s all ok and it’s what makes your family your family.
Instead, lean in to it and let me capture the play, the chaos and the fun!
3 - Working to your best times
Babies and young children have better times of the day where they are well rested and generally in a better mood. Scheduling your shoot for after nap time or heir best time of the day will be worth it, trust me!
4 - Snacks!
This one goes for both children and pets. I’ve often found that a snack can be used as a great bargaining tool when trying to achieve photos. They are great for toddlers who may need a quick snack break during the shoot, or for dogs that you need to keep sitting pretty for the camera.
