A DIY Wedding in the Scottish Borders

Some wedding enquiries just have a special spark—and as soon as Rebecca & Finn’s popped into my inbox, I had a feeling this one would be unforgettable. Spoiler alert: I was right!

Rebecca & Finn’s wedding was the perfect blend of heartfelt family moments, artistic DIY touches, and Scottish wedding tradition. They tied the knot in Finn’s home village of Lilliesleaf, nestled in the stunning Scottish Borders. The ceremony took place in the local church, followed by an incredible tipi reception at the village hall—every part of the day was filled with their creative flair and personality.

DIY Wedding Inspiration at Its Best

Rebecca & Finn described themselves as artistic, and wow, they weren’t exaggerating! From start to finish, their wedding was packed with thoughtful DIY details that made the day feel so personal. Rebecca got ready at home in their cosy cottage before heading to the church in a retro car, led by the stirring sounds of a Scottish piper. The entrance to the church was decorated with the most beautiful handmade foliage display—such a pretty touch.

And then came one of the most fun moments of the day: after saying "I do," Rebecca & Finn stepped outside into a confetti tunnel, with a brass street band leading them straight into the celebrations. It was pure magic and something I’d never seen before.

A Family-Filled Celebration in the Scottish Borders

Inside the tipi, guests were treated to heartfelt speeches and incredible food. It was the kind of wedding where love and community were at the heart of everything—exactly what makes a wedding so special.

Now, let’s talk about the weather. When I say it rained, I mean it RAINED. But we embraced it, found moments of dry skies, and captured some stunning portraits of Rebecca & Finn in the beautiful Scottish countryside. Nothing was going to dampen the joy of this day!

And, of course, I can’t forget the real star of the evening—Paddy the sausage dog! He completely stole the show (and my heart) as he trotted around, charming everyone. The photos of him are too much—what a good boy!

A Wedding to Remember

I left this wedding with my heart full and a fresh reminder of why I love what I do. It wasn’t just about celebrating Rebecca & Finn’s love for each other, but also their love for their home, their people, and the little details that made their day unique.

If you’re dreaming of a wedding filled with DIY wedding inspiration, family wedding magic, and a true celebration of love in the Scottish Borders, I’d love to capture it for you!
