A Durham Church Wedding & reception in the Heart of the City

Prepare to fall in love with Pip & Ritchie…

After being together since their younger years and raising two beautiful girls Pip & Ritchie decided it was time to get married. I came along for a few hours and documented part of their day, and it was a breath of fresh air for me in the middle of wedding season.

I arrived for the last getting ready moments with Pippa and her family at home. Pippa chose a gorgeous white gown with lilac flowers embroidered on to it. It was stunning, and suited Pippa so well. The flow of the sleeves and the sweetheart neckline felt ethereal, and suited the grand romance of their church venue.

The church in question was one that the family are part of. It’s also where Pippa’s dad was lay to rest, which is such a sentimental detail of the day. A small wedding party witnessed Pip & Ritchie exchange vows and rings, before heading outside for confetti and some photos. We then had a little walk around the church grounds for some photos of the two of them, before heading off to Durham city centre to The Cellar Door.

It was a gorgeous sunny Saturday in Summer so the Durham streets were lined with the public enjoying a drink or a walk in the sunshine. Pippa made her way through the city centre in her dress, looking so beautiful!

The Cellar Door is a small restaurant on the riverside, with incredible food and amazing rooms to dine in. The room in question was cosy and decorated beautifully, with fairy lights and candle light illuminating their chosen details.

Canapes were served and guests migled, enjoying the buzz of the day. We had a few more photos on the riverside terrace and I then left them to it.

I adore small and informal weddings like this, and I am always happy to discuss shooting them.
