A Relaxed Wedding Day on the Family Farm
Now if you’re looking for a wholesome wedding day, this post is for you.
Kirsty got in touch with me to see if I was available to photograph their at-home farm wedding, with DIY details and the potential of photos with sheep. This got me very excited! And thankfully I was available.
The farm on which Kirsty and Josh lived was Kirsty’s fathers, and the farm has been in the family since before then. So already we are off to a sentimental start! Kirsty & Josh built their own farm home on the land, and they hosted their celebrations next to it. I can’t think of anything better than being able to look out of your kitchen window for years to come and always remember your wedding day that happened right there in front of you. That’s so special!
A marquee was erected, lots of farm DIY details were created (including the incredible metal feeding ring made into a ceremony feature!), and a camp site was formed. The swallows were swirling around the long grass as I walked around to look at everything, it was just so magical!
The views were sensational, and we watched the cloud quickly move overhead, bringing showers of rain. But that didn’t put anyone off, we just embraced it! Kirsty got ready upstairs at home, and Josh downstairs. Perfect for me to flit between them both!
Kirsty and her dad walked down the aisle and as they approached the front the heavens opened. Singing was a big part of this ceremony, and guests stood in the rain and sang with the couple. It felt like a film!
Afterwards we went for some photos with the farm house backdrop and the rolling hills. You genuinely cannot beat this view, and I’m so please we could tie in the home farm into the photos. And of course the sheep! Though the cows did keep away.
The marquee was filled with personal touches and DIY decorations made by friends and family. A fabulous cake was made by a family member, who also created the art for their programme. So much love goes into these details, they are things to notice and remember forever.
Confetti was thrown, drinks were had on the lawn, and then we headed inside for speeches. It’s not often I well up at a wedding, but Kirsty’s dad got me good! The father daughter relationship was like nothing I had witnessed before, so to hear his speech was emotional, and to then hear him sing a song that reminded him of Kirsty was another level. A moment I will remember forever!
