A Traditional Church Wedding in Whickham
If you’re a sucker for a traditional church ceremony then this post is one you’ll enjoy!
Megan and Michael got in touch to tell me about their traditional church wedding plans, followed by a reception at a local hotel venue, and I instantly felt that this would be a beautiful day to capture. I spent a few hours with them and captured some getting ready photos, the ceremony, group photos and some photos at their reception, before leaving them for speeches and dinner.
Megan chose a simple dress, but with her accessories and striking short hair it looked sensational on her! That low back is a show stopper! After capturing a few wedding morning photos I met Megan at the church where she would marry Michael. It was a gorgeous day and the church looked amazing with natural light streaming through the stained glass windows. The Whickham location also brought the small village charm it’s well known for.
I respected the church’s wishes and kept to the back and sides for ceremony, but they gave me some beautiful view points of the couple and the guests. I love making my way around the room to capture some sneaky portraits of guests looking on at the ceremony.
We milled around in the courtyard for Megan and Michael to greet some guests, and then we ticked off all of the group shots. I then spent some time with Megan and Michael in the church to get some dramatic portraits. How epic do they look?! The dramatic architecture of a church always makes a great backdrop.
Then we headed to the hotel where guests were waiting for them. I captured all of the thoughtful DIY details that Megan had created (so talented!) before guests sat down for speeches and dinner. And then my time was up!
Below are some highlights from this beautiful Whickham church wedding, capturing the ceremony and relaxed portraits around the village.
